Alvin Randall "Al" Parrish Obituary
Alvin Randall Parrish, 81, longtime area resident, died Wednesday December 2, 2015 at his home in Fort Morgan.
Al was born February 22, 1934 on the homestead SW of Akron of Randall Parrish and Ruby Cline.
When Al was three, his mother married Albert Jesse. Albert was the person who influenced Al and helped make him the man he became.
Al graduated from Akron High School in 1952 and then attended Trinidad Jr. College for two years. He was drafted into the Army and spent two years stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
When he got out of the army, Al established himself in the Jacks Bean Company in Fort Morgan in the northeast Colorado and Nebraska region.
On July 29, 1960 Al married Darla Jean Neefe in Fort Morgan. He worked for Jacks Bean from 1956 until 1988. From 1980 until 1990 they also ran a photography studio.
Al was an avid archeologist for over 78 years. He found his first arrowhead when he was three years old. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of archeology and was sought after by many to authenticate artifacts found in and around North East Colorado.
Al and Darla owned Parrish Galleries from 1989 to 2013. Dealing in antiques was a business that each one could excel and thrive in during their "Golden Years". Al also did a lot of furniture refinishing. His knowledge of antiques and of various artifacts was great.
Al was a sports fan. His favorites were the Boston Red Sox, and the Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed trips to Blackhawk where he would play one and five dollar slots.
Everyone has their own special memory with him as he was a very influential man. He inspired us all to be better and look for that bright future.
Survivors include, sons, Dale Parrish (Debbie) of Brush, Jim Parrish (Barb) of Wiggins, daughters, Leandra Parrish (Dennis Lazzaretti) of Otis, and Cyndi Parrish of Erie, grandchildren, Melissa, Victor, Reba, Chace, Quinn, Joe, Adam, Tiffany, and Ashleigh, great grandchildren, Tyler, Arianna, and Kohen.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darla, one son, Shaun, three sisters, one brother, and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Al on December 12th from 12 noon until 4:00 PM at 731 Warner in Fort Morgan. The children have asked that you just come and share your memories with them.
