Betty Dell (Smith) Shaw Obituary
Betty Dell Shaw passed away on November 10th, 2014 at Washing County
Nursing home in Akron Colorado.
Betty was born on April 22nd 1927 to Joseph and Pearl Smith of Kirk
Colorado. She was the middle child of five children; Don Smith, Cliff
Smith, Jack Smith and Wayne Smith. Betty married Bud Shaw on May
28th, 1948 and from that union, one son was born; David Shaw.
After the war Bud and Betty farmed around Kirk and Joes and then moved
to Denver. Then Bud and Betty lived in California for a few years,
while Bud was a brick masonry. They missed the country and moved back
to Colorado in 1959. They ran the local grocery store and meat
processing plant in Cope until 1975. They then bought a hog farm and
ran it for several years outside of Cope Colorado.
Betty loved to sew, quilt, knit and crochet. Through the years she
made many quilts, slippers, afghans for her family and friends. Betty
especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren playing cards,
dominoes and the aggravation game.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Pearl, her
husband Bud and her brothers, Cliff and Jack.
Betty is survived by her son Dave and wife Betsy, her granddaughter
Kari Beauprez and husband Alex and their children, Danae and Daden,
her grandson Brian Shaw and wife Katie and son Paxton and her brothers
Wayne Smith and wife Avis and brother Don Smith and her sister-in-laws
Rose Smith and Bette Smith. She is also survived by many nieces,
nephews.
A small private family service will be held at a later date.
