Beverly Jane (Petersen) Sidebottom Obituary
Beverly Jane Sidebottom, at the age of 82, went home to be with her Lord on February 14, 2013, while living at the Eben Ezer Nursing Home in Brush, CO. She was born September 24, 1930 to John and Helen Petersen of Omaha, NE. Beverly grew up in the Omaha area, graduated from Omaha Tech in May of 1948 and left for Milwaukee Bible Institute that fall. While attending MBI she met Eldred Sidebottom who was studying to become a pastor. Some college students decided to go ice skating and since Beverly did not know how to ice skate, Eldred offered to help her. She kept falling into his arms and that continued for the next 62 years.

Eldred and Beverly were married on May 27, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI. Four children were born to them from April 1951 to May 1955 and each of them thinks they were her favorite. (Just ask us.) She was a busy mom for many years with 4 little ones. Some of you might remember those 4 little ones sitting on the front pew of the church (not always being quiet) with Dad in front of the congregation and Mom playing the piano here in Cope.

Beverly played the piano for church services wherever Eldred was pastor; the Belmont Community Church from June 1951 to September 1954 in Belmont, Michigan; the Cope Community Church from September 1954 to January 1966 in Cope, Colorado; and Eckley Community Church from 1985 - 2004, in Eckley, Colorado. For many years she taught piano lessons in her home. At one time she was giving ½ hour piano lessons to 17 students per week…kept her busy. She also played the piano at school concerts and competition performances for students from Arickaree School.

While Eldred was the Director of Things to Come Mission from 1963 - 1990, Beverly worked in the office and had many different responsibilities which included keeping the financial books in order. The two of them were able to go on several missionary trips together.

Beverly led a women's Bible study in the Cope area for many years and did some public speaking for special events. She was a camp counselor at Western Grace Youth Camp while her children were growing up and taught Sunday school and helped with the Youth Group for many years. She spent countless hours researching the area history and played a big part in having a Cope Centennial History Book published. Beverly was active for many years in the Cope Homemakers Club. She also was very instrumental in various special programs for the church and community with Vacation Bible School, Christmas and Easter programs, community choir cantatas, weddings, births, and funerals.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Irvin Eldred Sidebottom; 4 children; Phyllis (Dan) Studebaker of Russell, KS; Daniel (Jennifer) Sidebottom of Leavenworth, WA; Linda (Steve) Sackett of Cope, CO; and Ronald (Kathy) Sidebottom of Brush, CO; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Shriver of Denver, CO, a brother-in-law, Wendel Anderson of Omaha, NE, plus many nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother J. Alan Petersen and wife Evelyn, her sister Mary Helen Ehresman and husband Wesley, her brother Ray Petersen, her sister Marilyn Anderson and her brother-in-law Harland Shriver.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Cope Community Church at 10:30am with a meal for everyone to enjoy afterwards at the Grassroots Building in Joes, CO.

Memorials may be given to Cope Community Church, Eckley Community Church, or the Gideon's.
