Clarence Hodge Obituary
Clarence Hodge, 89, passed away peacefully at the Medical Center of
the Rockies on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 surrounded by his three
children. Cause of death was a stroke.
He leaves behind his three children, Douglas Hodge and wife Jackie of
Loveland CO; Michele (Hodge) Gann and husband Dennis of Piedmont OK;
and Anita (Hodge) Parker and husband Dale of Glenwood Springs CO.
Clarence Hodge is also survived by a brother, Elmer Hodge; a sister
Virginia Hafer; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a
long-time friend, Patricia Dreher. Mr. Hodge is preceded in death by
two brothers Chet Hodge and Forrest Hodge, one sister June Passaniti,
and his first wife Lois (Hodge) Hedges.
Born on August 7, 1925 and raised in Palmer NE, Clarence was one of
six siblings born to Roscoe Hodge and Blanche (Galley) Hodge.
Mr. Hodge served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He took
part in the invasion of Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands. The
patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, his friends and
family will attest.
While attending college at the Nebraska State Teachers College in
Kearney, Nebraska, Clarence met and married Lois (Jensen) Hodge from
Minden, Nebraska. During their 25 years of marriage, they raised their
three children.
Mr. Hodge taught high school Social Studies before he spent many years
as a school principal and superintendent in Nebraska, Minnesota and
Colorado including over 20 years' service to Akron Public Schools.
After retirement, he owned and managed the Hodge Apartments in Akron,
Colorado until two years ago.
Ashes are interned and honored at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver CO.
