Donald Eugene "Don" Ross Obituary
Donald Eugene Ross passed away on February 3, 2014 at the age of 80 years.  Don was born to Randall Ross and Marie Burley Ross on February 4, 1933 in Akron, Colorado.  His childhood was spent on a farm near Elba, Colorado and he graduated from Akron High School in 1950.
On August 19, 1951, Don was united in marriage to Yvonne Churchill.  To this union 4 children were born:  Randy Ross of Lakewood, Colorado, Ronald Ross of Lakewood, Sharon Thomas of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Debra Dusenberry now deceased.
Don went to work in Sydney, Nebraska then in December 1951 moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked in the sheet metal trade for 44 years, retiring in 1995.
Don was an avid archer and bow hunter and spent his weekends camping, fishing, archery, and attending kids' baseball and softball games.  During the 1960's, Don built pickup campers and recurve bows.  Don won many awards for his passion of archery.
In 2004, they moved to a home near Brighton, Colorado.  In January of 2005, Yvonne sustained a traumatic head injury due to a fall, and passed away on February 12, 2005.
In the summer of 2006, Don met Lila Read Gebauer at a funeral for one of Lila's relatives.  They didn't recognize each other until they were introduced by a relative of Lila's.  Both attended Akron High School.  On June 30, 2007, Don and Lila were united in marriage and honeymooned in Jamaica. 
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Randall and Marie Ross, his first wife Yvonne, his daughter Debbie, and two grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife Lila; sons Randy Ross and wife Vickie, Ronald Ross and wife Lori; daughter Sharon Thomas and husband Michael; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister Elnora Highland and husband Roger; one niece, one nephew, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.  Interment was held at the Akron Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Denver Hospice, or to the cancer research .
