Donald Henry Manhalter Sr. Obituary
Donald Henry Manhalter, Sr., age 74, passed away in Sterling, CO, Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.
Donald Henry Manhalter, Sr., was born to Guy Manhalter and Emma Kahler, on Aug. 25, 1939, in Akron, CO.
He graduated from high school and continued his education for another two years, earning his Associates Degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1968.
Donald married Delores Helvie, on Nov. 25, 1967, in Akron, CO. The couple then moved from Akron to Sterling, also in 1967.
Donald was a mail carrier for 15 years, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post No. 20, BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336 and a bowling league.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Manhalter, in 1995; daughter, Tracy Manhalter; parents, Guy and Emma Manhalter; sisters, Ruth Sloan and Helen Jefferson; and brother, Robert Manhalter.
He is survived by daughters, Nancy L. Manhalter and Chad Fogelman, of Clovis, New Mexico, and JoAnna E. Trevino and husband, Ramiro, of Sterling; son, Donald H. Manhalter, Jr., and wife, Robyn, of Hohenfels, Germany, brother, Wayne Manhalter and wife, Roseland, of Oklahoma; sister, Gladys Kloefkorn, of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Casey Anderson and wife, Nicole, Levi Kalb, Ashley, Chase and Makayla Manhalter, Victoria Trevino and Gabriela Trevino; and great-grandson, Takoda Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Sterling, with Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Friday, Jan. 24, from 3-5 p.m., at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, in Sterling. Burial, with military rites, will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Donald Manhalter Memorial.
