Douglas "Kevin" Gebauer Obituary
Douglas "Kevin" Gebauer, 56, of Akron, Colorado died December 1, 2014
at North Colorado Medical Center of complications due to a perforated
bowel. Kevin was the second son of David and Beverly (Daniels)
Gebauer and was a longtime resident of Washington County.
Kevin was a hard worker, good neighbor and friend. As young as 10
years old Kevin would do chores at 5:00 am before school without
prompting. He loved farming, raising cattle, and was fascinated by
roping and raising horses. He was an amazing athlete, a winning
wrestler and took great pride in teaching other young men to wrestle
and regaled whoever would listen of his stories of greatness and
excellence. Kevin was strong minded, had a great sense of humor, and
was generous to his family and friends. Also, he genuinely loved
being a fun Uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Kevin married Vickie Anderson June 23, 1979 and lived Southwest of
Akron and had two daughters Christine and Jennifer. Kevin was widowed
in 1981. Kevin married Cheryl Foster February 14, 1986 and was blessed
with two more daughters Kathryn and Kimberly. Kevin was a stepfather
to Kevin Lee Sturch also. Kevin and Cheryl subsequently divorced.
Kevin is survived by his parents David and Beverly Gebauer. His
children Christine Gebauer Deniston and her husband Mark, Jennifer
Gebauer, Kathryn Gebauer Stencel and her husband Tye, Kimberly Gebauer
Smith and her husband Eric, and Kevin Sturch and his wife Casey.
Kevin's grandchildren Tessa Lingo, Paisley Smith and Baby Boy Stencel.
He is also survived by his siblings David A. Gebauer and his wife
Debbie, Danny and Samantha Gebauer, Dianna Gebauer Arrington. His
nieces and nephews Darrell and Dillion Gebauer, Christopher and Kayla
Gebauer, Alexandrea and Olivia Arrington and great nephews Aiden
Gebauer and Baylor Bryan.
A vigil service was held Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the St. Joseph
Catholic Church of Akron. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday,
December 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family
requests any monetary donations be made to the Kevin Gebauer Memorial
Fund in care of Bowin Funeral Home P.O. Box 576 Akron, CO 80720 to
benefit the Akron High School Wrestling Program.
