Glen O. Salley Obituary
Glen O. Salley (90) of London, OH, went to be with our Lord on July 7, 2015 after a recent illness..
Born July 4, 1925, he is the son of the late Bill and Birdie Salley (Cox) of Akron, CO.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Paul, of Hemet, CA and a sister, Phyllis, of Brush, CO, and stepdaughter, Zina of Anderson, SC.
He is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 39 years, Robbye; children, Karen (Bill), John (Margaret), Neal (Sharon); Stepdaughters, Darla (Joe), and Deena (Rick); eleven grandchildren/stepgrandchildren, and four great/step great-grandchildren. His parents were farmers near Platner, Colorado, and his love of farming and the prairies of Colorado continued into his retirement years. He often commented, ÒI should have been a farmer.Ó At the age of 18 he joined the Army Air Corp., and was very proud of serving in the military during WWII in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters. He received several decorations and citations. After his military service, Glen was employed for a short time as a taxicab driver in Denver and then retired from Keebler after 37 years. During his retirement he enjoyed investing in the stock market, traveling (especially to Mexico), and coin hunting. He was a voracious reader and would love a competitive game of chess or paper puzzles with his family.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St. London with Pastor Dale George officiating. Burial followed at Kirkwood Cemetery, London with full military honors.
