Helen Lorraine Spear, 79, of Commerce City, CO died Sunday March 2.|
Helen Lorraine (Lorraine to all who knew her) was born June 14, 1934 to Drahomir and Val Haas in Saddlebrook Township, New Jersey. She resided in New Jersey graduating from Lodi High School in 1952. Lorraine worked as a personal secretary at Dumont's saving her salary to take vacations with her many girlfriends. She loved to dance, sing and ride horses. She met the love of her life, Kelsey Spear, in 1962 while visiting a county fair in Nebraska. They married in January 1964 and were blessed by a daughter 12 months later. Lorraine and Kelsey trained, owned and raced thoroughbred horses for a living until their second daughter arrived six years later. She resided in Commerce City for the last 50 years.
Lorraine was an avid card player (poker was her favorite), enthusiastic reader, bingo winner and garage sale junkie. She loved to crochet and made beautiful baby and wedding blankets as gifts for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Kelsey Spear, her daughters, Kerry Anna Speck and Korrie Euler and their families, including 4 grandchildren; her brother David Haas of Florida and sisters-in-law Dorothy Lambert and Gladys Spear of Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
