Irene Lucille (Rinne) Aldrich Obituary
Irene Lucille Aldrich, 85 of Akron, passed away at the Washington County Greenhouse Home on January 3, 2017.
Irene Aldrich was born to Walter and Hazel Rinne, on June 21, 1931 in Akron. Hazel developed a massive tumor and knew that she could no longer raise her infant daughter. Hazel gave up the care of her daughter to her sister-in-law Ida Rinne. Irene was raised on the farm, and eventually was milking 18 head of cows.
At the age of 18, Irene eloped with Kenneth Churchill. Melvin E. Churchill was born to this union approximately a year later. In 1955, Kenneth and Irene adopted a daughter, Linda Sue. Linda passed away in 2008.
Irene took it upon herself to raise one of Linda's daughter, Angie, when Linda became unable to care for her.
Between 1958 and 1967, Kenneth and Irene moved 14 times, with Irene always providing a stable, loving environment for her children. As Mel and Linda became older, Irene went to work to help support the family. She worked in the school cafeteria, the Washington Hospital as a nurses aide and the Greeley hospital as an aid. She enjoyed take care of people.
In 1967, Irene divorced Kenneth and lived on her own for approximately 3 years, eventually meeting and marrying Carl Aldrich. The marriage would last until 2010, when Carl passed away.
Irene always loved animals, especially dogs. She would take in every stray that came along and give them a good home, many living out the rest of their lives in her care.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowin Funeral Home in Akron. Memorial donations may be made to the Washington County Greenhouse Homes
