John Edward Krause Obituary
John Edward Krause was born August 14, 1928 at home in Wiladel, Colorado and passed away peacefully at the Washington County Nursing Home on September 1, 2014.  John attended grade school at Wiladel and Crystal Heights in southeast Washington County.  His family moved to Akron in 1944 where he attended two years of high school.  John had to help support his family and quit school to work.

John worked hard his entire life, whether it be farming or carpentering, and he passed on that work ethic to his children.  He married Jean Rose Diamond in November, 1952.  In the late 50's they were able to purchase their first piece of farm ground in the Lone Star area.  His carpentry skills paid the bills and the crop made the land payment; however, the family was just "getting by."  John's sister, Elsie (Krause) Geisler, encouraged him to move his family to Oregon where the economy was much better.  In 1964 John moved his family to Astoria, Oregon where he worked as a carpenter.  Summer vacations were trips to Akron for wheat harvest.  John longed to return to Colorado and had an opportunity in 1974 to purchase a farm in the Lone Star area.  The family moved back to Colorado where John continued to work as a carpenter with his brother, Bill Krause and later with his son, Kevin.  But he was also able to farm – his real love!

John and Jean were divorced in 1985 but you would never know it.  They remained good friends with a common goal – family.  Both attended all family gatherings where memories will be cherished.  The only hobby John had was following his kids and grandkids to athletic events, music concerts, dance recitals, plays, etc.  He loved talking Knappa Logger football and Akron Rams football with the locals.  He followed volleyball, basketball, and track for the Knappa Loggers, The Akron Rams, and the Lone Star Longhorns.   John wasn't missing any event that involved his children or grandchildren if he could help it.  And he was a vocal fan! J

John is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna (Rasmussen) Krause, his brothers Glen (Mary) and Bob (Irma), and his sisters Elsie Geisler (Frank), Vivian Fridrich (Orville), Luella Killip (Leo), and Irene Niccum (Nick).  He is survived by Jean Rose Krause; his brother, Bill Krause (Beulah) and sister, Inez Strauch (Rob); his children: Kathy Alfiere (Jan); Kevin (Kim); Susan Watson (Harv); Gina Padula (Bob); Matt (Judi); Dan; Terry (Lisa); Bill (Judy); and Tom (Danna); numerous nieces and nephews and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to the Akron or Lonestar High School Athletics.
