John Lyle Miller Obituary
John Lyle Miller of Vona was born to Lyle and Nell (Wilhelm) Miller on March 3, 1943 in Denver, CO and passed away on September 10, 2014 in Denver.
When John was three years old, the family left Denver and returned to their hometown of Cope, CO where he attended school; graduating from Arickaree School District in 1961. Following high school, he attended NJC in Sterling.
In 1967, John was drafted into the Army. During his two year tenure he served in An Khe, Vietnam and Germany. John was proud of his service and was always grateful when, in recent years, someone would come up to him and thank him for his service.
In April of 1971 John started dating an acquaintance from his high school days, Joyce Boger. The couple married in August of that same year. They moved to Littleton where John worked as a Colorado State Patrolman. After a short time in Littleton, John was transferred to Elizabeth, CO, where they resided for the next three years. The couple then returned to Eastern CO, where John worked for RPM Industries. John and Joyce soon welcomed their daughter, Holly, in January of 1975.
In 1980, John went to work for Stratton-Kirk Equity Co-op and, over the years, held several positions in Stratton and Kirk. He retired from there in 2005.
Upon the death of Joyce's father in 1986, the Millers moved to her family's farm north of Vona and John spent the remainder of his life there. John enjoyed the peace and quiet of the country, working in the great outdoors, the farm animals and wildlife.
John loved golf, hunting, watching the Little League World Series, fried chicken, sharing his opinions, western books, cop shows, kids, exploring the back roads, and most of all his family and friends.
