Delta resident, Julia Mae Hendricks, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at her home in Delta Colorado. She was 90 years old.
A memorial service is set for 2:00pm, Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Delta, Colorado.
Julia Mae Hendricks was born April 25, 1926 in Naylor, Missouri, to George and Irene (Stacy) Cook. She was the second of five children. She was educated in the Naylor Schools, and then went to St. Louis to work. She returned home in 1943, where she met and married Lynn H. Simmons. To this union four girls and two boys were born. The marriage later dissolved.
Julia then married Louis Simmons in St. Louis, they had had two boys. Later the couple moved to Montrose, Colorado, and lived there for nine years, then to Delta for twelve years. During that time they divorced. Julia then met and married Fred Hendricks and they moved to Akron, Colorado, so that she could take care of her mother and step-dad Frank Forbs. They both passed away in 1989, Julia and Fred lived in Akron until Fred passed away, she then moved back to Delta, Colorado.
Julia belonged to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Delta, Colorado. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and cooking.
Julia is survived by two sons, Tom Simmons of Delta, CO and Alan Simmons of Spring Hill, FL; two daughters, Linda Ward of Delta, CO and Constance Beason of Branson, TN; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and twelve great great-grandchildren.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two sons, and two daughters.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
