Larry Dean Pounds Obituary
Larry Dean Pounds went to his eternal home on Thursday, February 26,
2015 at the Yuma District Hospital at the age of 76.
Larry was born on May 3, 1938 in Brewster, Kansas to Andy Lincoln and
Sylvia Carolina (Jensen) Pounds. He attended school in Brewster and
graduated from high school in 1956. Following high school, Larry
joined the United States Navy, where he served from 1956 to 1960. Upon
returning home from the Navy, he worked various jobs in Goodland,
Kansas and farmed with his father, Andy.
On September 10, 1961, Larry was united in marriage with the love of
his life, Janice Lynn White, in Brewster. The couple welcomed their
only child, Lori Lynn, on May 14, 1962. The family moved to Yuma,
Colorado in 1966, where Larry was known by so many and lived until the
time of his passing. Larry bought the John Deere Dealership with his
partner, Lawrence (Shorty) Meis, in 1966 and put a great amount of
pride into his work. Larry owned the dealership from 1966 until 2008,
when he retired.
Outside of John Deere, Larry had a love for horses, even raising colts
of his own in the 1990s.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Andy; mother, Sylvia; and
brothers, Lyle and Delbert.
Larry leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Janice; sister, Wanda
Conley; daughter, Lori Barry, and husband, Edward; grandson, Dirk
Barry, and wife, Alicia; granddaughter, Erika Barry; grandson, Justin
Forsythe; granddaughter, Tera Wall, and husband, Zach; four
great-grandchildren, Harper and Haven Barry and Jaxon and Swayze Wall;
and countless friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the First
Southern Baptist Church in Yuma. Interment followed at the Yuma
