Larry Leroy Lockard Obituary
Larry Leroy Lockard, 67 of Otis, Colorado passed away on April 7, 2015
at his home on the farm north of Otis, Colorado.
Larry was born July 12, 1947 in Sterling, Colorado to Jesse and Elma
(VanMatre) Lockard. Larry attended elementary school at Lone Star
School in Otis. He attended high school at Muscoda High School in
Muscoda, Wisconsin and also Sycamore High School, in Sycamore,
Illinois, where he graduated in 1966.
On February 3, 1968, Larry married Rosie Bloyer in Muscoda, WI. To
this union, 5 children were born: Julie, Renee, Amanda, Buck, and
In Larry's younger years, he was a logger, a volunteer fireman and EMT
in Blue River, WI. He was also a lifelong farmer. Also, Larry
recently retired from Sykes in Sterling, CO.

Larry enjoyed spending hours reading western novels and watching
western movies (in particular, movies starring The Duke.) He also
enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and teaching his grandchildren the
important, and sometimes ornery, parts of life. Larry had a keen
sense for practical jokes, many involving fake critters and fishing
He is preceded in death by his mother Elma A. Lockard; daughter, Renee
Lockard; grandchildren Stetson Lockhart and Ema Owen; and brother
Edward R. Lockard.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosie Lockard; children Julie
(Tracy) Lockhart of Loveland, CO, Amanda (Dennis) Owen of Sterling,
CO, Buck Lockard of Otis, and Bobby (Deborah Blom) Lockard of Otis;
grandchildren Mercedes Higgins, Dalton Higgins, Madison Higgins, Ross
Lockhart, Alexis Friedly, Gwendolyn Owen, Adam Owen, Linda Elliott,
Diane Sears, Shylee Lockard, Kayleigh Lockard, Hayden Lockard, Sandra
Lockard, Jayna Lockard, Ana Lockard, and Jack Lockard;
great-grandchildren Rhayna Higgins, Aurora Owen, Cutter Owen, Raith
Elliott, Paisley Elliott, and Evelyn Sears. Larry is also survived by
his father Jesse and wife Doris (Chadwick) Lockard of Otis; sisters
Shirley (Floyd) Bethke of Kenosha, WI and Kathleen (Donald) Elliott of
Avoca, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Bowin Funeral Home in
Akron. A funeral service was held Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10:30
a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Otis. Interment followed at
the Otis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of
the Plains or to the Otis Cemetery Board.
