Lillian Mae (Bauer) Wagner Obituary
Lillian Mae (Bauer) Wagner, 75 of Akron, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her home. Lillian was born February 19, 1937 to Henry G. and Marie (Kembel) Bauer. She was born and raised in Fort Morgan, CO and attended Fort Morgan schools graduating in 1956.
On July 31, 1959 she was united in marriage to Paul Wagner from Akron, CO. To this union, 2 children were born: Debra Lynn on September 4, 1960 and Nancy Sue on October 17, 1962. Lillian had two grandchildren as well: Katland Page, born on October 25, 1988, and Christopher Paul who was born and died on November 21, 1990.
Lillian and Paul, along with Paul's father Lawrence, owned and operated Akron Truckline. Lillian had many jobs and was active in the community. She cleaned rooms at the Crestwood Motel, ran the Crestwood Restaurant, and worked several summers running the golf course. For 19 years, she worked in the Assessor's office at the courthouse, retiring in 2003. After retiring from the courthouse, she worked part time for the Washington County Connections.
She was very involved in the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, participating in most aspects of the church. Lillian's hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, making baby quilts, and reading. For a small period of time, she donated her time mending clothes at the Washington County Nursing Home for the residents where Paul is currently residing.
She is preceded in death by her grandson Christopher Norton, her parents Henry and Marie Bauer, nephew Michael Rittenhouse, and her in-laws Lawrence and Inez Wagner.
She is survived by her husband Paul of Akron; daughter Debra and friend Elton (Mac) McCreath of Yuma; daughter Nancy of Akron; granddaughter Katland of Berthoud; sister Betty and husband Allen Higel of Sterling; brother-in-law Larry and wife Jeannie Wagner of Akron; niece Teresa of Holyoke nephew Jeffrey of Sterling; nephew Jim of Haxtun; and nephew Harold of Montana. She is also survived by numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Bowin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
