Lois Lee Knight Smith Lois Lee Knight Smith was born September 29, 1942, in Whittier California, to Roy and Laurine Knight. She passed away November 14, 2013, at Yuma Life Care. After leaving California, her family settled in Holyoke, Colorado. She attended school in Holyoke and graduated from there in 1960. In October of 1960, she married her husband of 53 years, Larry Smith. To this union were born four children, Jeri, Judy, Jim and Justin. Besides raising four children, Lois had different jobs through the years. She worked in a shoe factory, was a bookkeeper at Highline Electric, was a lifeguard, waited tables, cooked at the school, drove school bus, was a municipal judge and for many years, had the answering service for Y-W Electric in her home. Lois's hobbies included crocheting, playing cards and games, playing guitar and banjo and cooking. Lois was an excellent cook and loved cooking Thanksgiving dinner every year for her family. She cooked for many years at the Senior Center in Otis. Lois was well known for her strength and her humor. She didn't know a stranger and a lot of wonderful memories are of her and her family and friends sitting around the table after eating a fabulous meal that Lois had cooked, and sharing many laughs. Lois loved life and her family. Also very important to her was her faith. For many years, Lois had health problems but she faced them with a great attitude and her faith and humor. Her family takes comfort in knowing Lois did have strong faith in the Lord and was ready to go to her home in Heaven. Surviving Lois are her husband Larry Smith of Otis; daughters, Jeri Stallings and Rob of Otis, Judy Deshayes of Sterling; sons, Jim Smith and Lana of Denver, Justin Smith of Denver; her brother, Pete Knight and Helen of Holyoke; brothers-in-law, Dick Whittaker of Holyoke and Carr Conway of Branson; grandchildren, Cody Perry and Annette of Wyoming, Travis Perry and Stephanie of Yuma, Doug Perry and Ashley of Otis, Bradley Perry of Otis, Melissa Barnes and Gus of Australia, Derek Smith and Dani of Padroni, Monte Deshayes of Sterling, Rebecca Guerrero del a Torre and Luis of Denver, Daniel Smith of Denver, Joshua Smith and Juliet of Denver, Lydia, Josiah and Grace Smith all of Denver, Matt Stallings and Nikki of Aurora, Jeremy Stallings and Savanna of Sterling, Dustin Stallings and Ashley of Yuma, Zak Stallings and Savannah of Yuma and Chance Stallings of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews. She had 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Laurine Knight; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Marjorie Smith; her siste,r Bobbie Whittaker; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Conway; great-nephew, Mitch Whittaker; and great-niece, Miranda Whittaker. Funeral services for Lois were held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Otis, with Glen Osborn officiating.
