Melvin Eugene "Mel" Churchill Obituary
Melvin Eugene Churchill, 66, of Akron, Colorado passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 28, 2016.  Born to Kenneth and Irene Churchill (Aldrich) he lived most his life Akron, but also spent child hood years around Brush and Gould, Colorado.

Mel was passionate about the outdoors, and a well-known photographer locally.  Many people shared stories of him sharing pictures of their special events he covered as a newspaper photographer without even knowing he was there.  Mel taught many people how to fish for trout, and they also learned beneath a rough exterior was a gentle, considerate and generous man.   Adopting a mountain man approach, he enjoyed making his own ammo, fishing lures, casting bullets, and shooting black powder rifles.

Mel was loving father and a devoted husband.  His wife of 40 years, Jacquie Churchill, preceded him in death in August 2015.  He is survived by his mother Irene of Akron Colorado, daughter Anna and her husband Darren of Orange California,  Daughter Nicole and her husband Doug of Littleton Colorado, son Duane and and his wife Melissa of Alberton Montana, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will hold a private memorial to spread his ashes at his favorite mountain spot. No public services are planned.  Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Town of Akron to stock the golf course pond.
