Paul Morris Wagner Obituary
Paul Morris Wagner was born on March 29, 1936 in Brush Colorado to Lawrence H. Wagner and Inez (Traxler) Wagner.
He was raised and went to school in rural Washington County. He grew up working for local farmers- and at the local gas station. He and his father had a livestock trucking company for a while. Paul also worked for Delmar Mason and Richard Nicklas over the years as well as Miller Manufacturing in Stratton, NE.
He and Lillian Mae Bauer were married on July 31, 1959. In September 1960 Debra Lynn was born and Nancy Sue was born in October 1962.
In 1979 he stopped driving truck and opened Akron Grain Brokerage. He and Debra worked together at the brokerage until 1985 when he closed the company and went to work at Hall Grain Company. In April of 2004. Paul retired.
During his retirement. Paul volunteered for taking veterans to and from appointments. He also worked part-time for the local greenhouse driving to Sidney, NE and back with greenhouse flowers.
Paul was a member of the Elks #2579, holding all the offices of the leaders including Exalted Ruler twice. He also was a member of the chamber of commerce board. He also was a member of the Colorado Grain Association. Paul and Lillian were both members of Peace Lutheran Church and he served a term as the President of the church. Paul was an avid golfer and loved walking for his health.
Paul had to have knee replacement surgery in 2006 and really never recovered. He started falling and was not able to stay at home. In 2007 he went into the Washington County Nursing Home and was there at his death. Paul had developed Alzheimer's and was wheelchair bound.
After having a stroke on Thursday December 3, he fell in to decline and passed away on Monday December 7, 2015.
Paul leaves his daughters Debra and Elton Mccreath, Nancy and granddaughter Katland and her friend Jeff Perkins; brother Larry Wagner and wife Jeannie; nephews Harold and his wife Linda, and Jim and Eileen Wagner. He is also survived by niece Terri Rittenhouse-Gabel and nephew Jeffrey Rittenhouse and wife Laura and sister-in-law Betty Higel and husband Allen.
Hs was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Inez, wife Lillian, grandson Christopher, in-laws Henry and Marie Bauer, brother-in-law Thomas Rittenhouse, sister-in-law Alpha Wagner, and nephew Michael Rittenhouse.
A funeral service was held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Akron. Interment followed at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church or to the Akron Elks Lodge #2579.
