Passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in her home in Fort Lupton, Colorado on September 18th, 2017.
Polly was born in Akron, Colorado on April 22nd, 1925 to John and Hetty (Hartzell) Parks. She had an older sister Pearl, along with a baby brother Thomas that passed at the young age of 6 months.
She attended Akron schools. At the age of 16, she married Orval Parks in St Francis, Kansas. They had three children Charlene, Bill and Toyja. Polly worked as a waitress for 60 years in Akron at the Norka, Chalet and Silver Grill.
In 1976, she married Clinton A Smith "Smitty" but then widowed in 1985. She at last retired from her long career as a waitress in the mid 90's to take care of her ailing older sister Pearl Lodwig. In June of 2013, Polly moved to Fort Lupton, Colorado to be closer to her daughter Toyja and granddaughters Stacie Larsen and Lyndsie Taylor.
In her younger years, she loved dancing, cooking, playing cards, spending time with family and hosting holiday dinners. She never missed watching the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies along with her game shows Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Price is Right and of course the 2 p.m. showing of Days of Our Lives.
She was preceded in death by her sister, husbands, both parents and an infant brother.
She is survived by three children, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her family but memories will be in our hearts forever.
A service was held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Akron. Interment followed at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to her family, in care of Bowin Funeral Home, 175 West 3rd Street, Akron, CO 80720.
