1934 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Richard Lee Deines age 79, of Maxwell, NM, passed away after a long illness on Saturday October 12, 2013 in Lakewood, CO. He was born February 13, 1934 in Boulder, CO, the son of David Randolph and Nellie Eudora Cole-Deines.

Richard was raised on a dairy farm outside Boulder, CO. Throughout his married life he was a rancher, living in Almont, CO; Akron, CO; Wray, CO; Chadron, NE; Douglas, AZ and Maxwell, NM. Through the years he raised Charolaise, Black Angus and Red Angus cattle as well as sheep and goats. He raised, broke, trained and raced horses; raised, trained and trialed stock dogs, ending with registered Border Collies. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather extraordinaire.

Richard married Marva Lee Goble in Akron, Colorado, January 27, 1957. It was in Akron that all three of their children were born.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elton David, Arleigh Wayne, Max Norman and Winton Cole, sisters Maggie Anna, Delma Edna and Margie Eudora.
Richard is survived by his wife Marva, Two daughters, Wendi Kay Morton of Cimarron, NM, and Noli Kae Aschenbrenner and husband Justin of Aberdeen, MD. One son Cody Lee Deines and wife Kathy of Maxwell, NM. One brother Curtis Glen Deines and wife Dorsey of Berthoud, CO. Ten grandchildren William Morton and fiancé Jennifer, Kerby Morton, Taylor Littrel, Kari Littrel, Krystal Harty and husband Joshua, Kacie Deines, Trent Deines, Richard Shreffler and wife Auden, Kevin Shreffler, and Scott Shreffler. Five great-grandchildren, Jay, Dean, Alina, Kyla and Kloiee.

Funeral services will be Saturday October 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Maxwell United Methodist Church in Maxwell, NM with Rev. Ellen Y. Swain officiating. Burial will be in the Maxwell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home, 23500 U.S. Hwy 160, Walsenburg, CO. 81089 or the Maxwell United Methodist Church. Arrangements and celebration of love for Richard Lee Deines are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
