Robert Wayne "Bob" Albright Obituary
Robert Wayne Albright of Yellville, Arkansas died Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Funeral services were held 11:00 am Friday, October 9, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Don Cremer officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Yellville, Arkansas. Family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Fund or charities of your choice. He was born February 20, 1929 at Pierce, Colorado on his grandparents' farm (Cecil and Emma McConnell). His parents are Tom and Cora (McConnell) Albright both deceased). He attended school in Akron, Colorado through the eighth grade, and completed high school in three years and attended one year at University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado. He joined the Navy the following year. While in the U.S. Navy he married Rose Mary Roloff whom he met in Washington, D.C. when he was attending the Naval School of Music, from which he was assigned to an Admirals' Unit Band in Newport, Rhode Island. They were married in Steamboat Springs, Colorado August 28, 1949. After discharge from the Navy they moved to Washington D.C. and both obtained positions in the federal system. They started their family with the birth of Barbara Jeanne, and the following year gave birth to Nancy Jo. They decided to return to the west (Colorado and Kansas, their home states.) While living in Denver he drove a home delivery milk truck for Garden Farm Dairy. We moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado where Brother Lew got him a job in a coal mine at the time. Our third Daughter, Cynthia, was born in Glenwood Springs. A "near miss" in the mine suggested we make a move! We decided to move! In September 1959 the family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where Robert enrolled at the Colorado State University, and graduated with a degree in accounting in May of 1962. From May 1962 through September 1993, he worked at the IRS office in Cheyenne; with a CPA in Laramie; owned and operated "Bob's Tacos" drive up, and as a self-employed public accountant in Laramie and the University of Wyoming where he retired in 1993. Relocation of the family to Atchison, Kansas in 1994 brought Rose Mary to her home area, and Robert enjoyed the warmer climate! In 1995 he drove bus for Project Concern Senior Center. In 1996 he became director and managed that operation till October 1999, when he resigned. Again in 2001 he drove vans for "Access Ride" as an employee of the Independent Living Center operation until it gave up the transportation portion for "lack of profit". In July 2008, we moved to Yellville, Arkansas and had a house built on land owned by our last daughter, Cindy and her husband, James Bass. In August we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary square dancing with three other couples who were celebrating their 60th also. On November 17, 2009 (her 83rd birthday) Rosemary passed away, after battling cancer for 7 years. Survivors include three daughters: Barbara Waggoner, Snohomish, Washington; Nancy Gillen, Laramie, Wyoming; Cynthia Bass, Yellville, Arkansas; one brother, David, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
