Rozetta Ann Anderson (nee Muchow) was born November 12, 1927, at home in Otis Colorado, to Otto L. Muchow and Sadie Mae DeMoss Muchow. Rozetta was baptized as an infant and later confirmed at St Paul Lutheran Church in Otis. She was a life-long member of St. Paul's and attended Peace Lutheran Church after moving to Sterling in 2012
Rozetta graduated from Otis High School with the class of 1945. She attended Colorado Teachers College, now the University of Northern Colorado, from the fall of 1945 through the spring of 1947.
On August 21, 1949, Rozetta was married to Lloyd W. Anderson. The two of them were married for nearly 68 years. Rozetta and Lloyd were parents to six children: Stephen (died at birth) Mike, Patty, Sandy, Pam and Donnie.
Rozetta was a teacher in the Otis schools from 1947 through 1950 and she was a substitute teacher from the 1960s through the 1970s. She served as a postal clerk in the Otis Post Office: 1963 until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Colorado Rural Letter Carriers and Auxiliary and she and Lloyd attended many state and national meetings together .
Rozetta was an active member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid in Otis from the 1960 until she and Lloyd moved to Sterling in 2012. She was a leader in the Otis Crackerjacks 4-H club from 1966 to 1980. Rozetta enjoyed gardening, sewing, making baby quilts, playing bridge and most of all attending events in which her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were participants. After moving to Sterling, she enjoyed participating in the women's Bible study and the women's quilting group.
Taking an annual vacation with Lloyd and the children to Estes Park was one of Rozetta's favorite things. She had a fond spot in her heart for Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes. After retirement, Rozetta thoroughly enjoyed winter stays in Lake Havasu, Arizona playing golf, taking walks and perusing garage sales. Numerous childhood friends of the kids have mentioned one of their favorite memories of Rozetta was getting popcorn balls for Halloween treats. Rozetta and Lloyd enjoyed making over 150 popcorns for this annual event.
Rozetta was proceeded in death by her parents, Otto and Sadie Muchow; an infant son Stephen Lloyd Anderson, her granddaughter, Heidi Jo Clough; her siblings, Ruby Muchow Mahaffey, and her husband Calvin; Robert E. Muchow, and his wife Doris; Roberta Muchow Bolinger, and her husband Carroll; Randall Muchow, and his wife Betty; Ruth Muchow Sprenger, and her husband Ivan; and Renata Muchow Guida.
Rozetta is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Lloyd Anderson, her children: Michael Lloyd Anderson, Debra Blackmore Anderson of Sterling; Patricia Ann Anderson Clough, Craig Clough of Grant, Nebraska; Sandra Kay Anderson Ohlson, Kevin Ohlson of LaSalle, Pamela Jo Anderson Odom, Ed Odom of Kirkland, Washington; Donald Lee Anderson, Julie Hartman Anderson of Burlington; her grandchildren: Kay Ellen Anderson Metzler, Aaron Metzler; Holly Ann Clough Largent, Kyle Largent; Matthew Ohlson; Andrew Ohlson, Bobbi lee Ohlson; Kali Jo Anderson Hines, Logan Hines; Kirstin Maree Anderson; her great grandchildren: Makenna Metzler; Mason Metzler; Emma Largent; and RJ Largent; and brother-in-law Arther Manley Guida and many nieces and nephews.
Rozetta was diagnosed with lung cancer in late April 2016 and succumbed to the disease on July 18, 2016 in Sterling, Colorado. Rozetta will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, at 10:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran church in Otis, CO, with Pastor Scott Bieker and Pastor Wendy Kalan officiating. Interment will follow at the Otis Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Otis Cemetery Association or Hospice of the Plains.
