Sarah Ann (Brinkmann) Severin Obituary
Sarah Ann Brinkmann Severin went to be with the Lord on Friday, April
3rd at age 78 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.
Sarah was born on January 19, 1937 to Raymond A. H. and Marie
Brinkmann in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She received her early education at
Lynd, Minnesota. The family moved to Akron, Colorado in the fall of
1952. After graduation in 1954, she attended Western State College in
Gunnison, Colorado. She was married to George Severin on September
10, 1955. They lived in Greeley, Holyoke, and Akron. Two daughters
were born to this union, Athena Montelle and Troy Ann.
Sarah was a homemaker, did child care for others, and was Secretary of
Farm Bureau. Later she worked several years as the Senior Citizen
Coordinator for Washington County and assisted with all the activities
associated with the seniors. Sarah was known for starting a coffee
group for young mothers, which has been going now for 19 years. She
enjoyed counted cross stitch, sewing, cooking, music, and Christmas.
Most of all she "loved" the Lord, her family, and all the people she
touched through her Whole Heart Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond A. H. and Marie
Brinkmann; husband, George Severin; and brother, Kenneth Brinkmann.
Survivors include daughters Montelle Martens and Troy Stasenka (Tom);
grandchildren Tyler Stasenka (Amy) and Gabrielle Kunkel (Adam);
siblings Janet Felt (Ed), Wendell Brinkmann, and Caralynn Appenzeller
(Dan), and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services entrusted to Bowin Funeral Home of Akron, Colorado.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 9th at 10am at the
Four Square Church, 901 East 1st, Akron, CO 80720. Visitation will be
on Wednesday, April 8th 5-7pm at Bowin Funeral Home, 175 West 3rd,
Akron, CO 80720. Memorials may be sent to the Akron Senior and
Community Center, 166 Cedar Ave, Akron, CO 80720.
