Spencer Bianca "Bud" Hedges Obituary
Bud Hedges, 90, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Casper, Wyoming.
He was born in Thermopolis, Wyoming to Thomas and Lula May Hedges on November 2, 1925. In 1930, he moved with his parents and brothers, Merle and Robert, to Akron, Colorado. He graduated from Akron High School in 1944, played quarterback at Colorado State University and served in the Navy for a short time.
Bud met the love of his life, Mary Stroh, in Akron, Colorado and they were married on June 29, 1949 in Lakewood, Colorado. He worked as a salesman for National Supply in Worland and Casper and later became the manager of their used equipment department. He started Casper Used Equipment and Hedges Oil, investing in numerous oil production properties in the region. In his retirement, he remained active in his and his son Dallas' oil and gas interests and loved partnering with his son, Tony, in their farming and cattle business.
Bud was a well respected businessman for his honesty, generosity and compassion for others. He was larger than life to his family and will be remembered as a very humble, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His great story telling and sense of humor will be dearly missed. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his family, music, antiques and attending auctions, plus he was an avid Denver Broncos fan - Go Broncos - and he followed the Colorado Rockies every season! He also enjoyed the opportunity to coach his sons and their friends in Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion and never missed a game.
Bud is survived by Mary, his wife of 66 years; daughter Jamie (Hedges) Bates (Calvin) of Eagle, Colorado; sons Jim (Kathy) of Boise, Idaho and his child Amy (Hedges) Kixmiller; Dallas (Beverly) of Casper and their children Casey and Katy; Todd of Casper; Tony (Rachel) of Casper and their children, Lauren, Lee and Megan. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Robert and Merle.
His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 332 E. 2nd St., Casper, Wyoming with Pastor Brian Oliver and Pastor Brian Severin officiating.
