William Jennings ""Bill"" Krause Obituary
William "Bill" Jennings Krause was born October 16, 1921 in Anton, Colorado to George and Anna (Rasmussen) Krause.
William attended grade school at the Willadel School in southeast Washington County.  His family moved to Akron in 1944.  Bill served in the United States Navy during World War II. He enlisted in November of 1942 and served as a Signalman on the USS Weber. One month after the second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, and thus inducing the Japanese to surrender, the USS Weber went in to evacuate and care for the POW's. After completing that mission, Bill received an honorable discharge and returned home on October 20, 1945.??Bill married his bride of 69 years, Buelah Mae Hinton on August 22, 1946 in St. Francis, KS. They have four daughters, Janet, Rebecca, Gayle and Jewel. Bill resided with his wife, Buelah, in Akron, CO for 67 years and resided in Brush, CO at the Eben Ezer Assisted Living facility for the past 2 years.
After returning home from the war, Bill began working in construction and eventually started Krause Construction which he operated until retiring in 1991. In June of 1967, Bill and Buelah purchased the Variety Theatre. They owned the theatre until selling it in July of 1982. While running those two businesses, Bill still made time to operate a farm in the Anton community which was his real passion. In addition to his businesses, Bill also served as Washington County Commissioner, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Y-W Electric Association and as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.
Bill and Buelah were avid Akron Ram fans and enjoyed watching their grandsons play football, basketball and baseball. They continued to follow the Ram athletic programs even after their grandsons had graduated. Over the years, they also enjoyed dancing, traveling, family gatherings, and working at the farm.??Bill passed away at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, CO on December 10, 2015 at 94 years of age. 
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna (Rasmussen) Krause, his brothers Glen (Mary), Bob (Irma), John and his sisters Elsie Geisler (Frank), Vivian Fridrich (Orville), Luella Killip (Leo), and Irene Niccum (Nick).  He was survived by his wife, Buelah Mae Krause who passed away just six days after his death; his sister, Inez Strauch (Rob); his children: Janet Riebesehl (Gary); Becky Ponda (Tony); Gayle Domingue (Jeff) and Jewel Vaughn (Ken); 11 grandchildren: Teresa Marston, Amy Butler (Mike), Lance McCracken (Rhonda), Ryan Billingsley, Frank "JR" McCracken (Vanessa), Kacie Vaughn-Beck (Dan), Neil Vaughn (Jessica), Lauren Billingsley, Ryan Nesbitt, Heather Freeman (Jim) and Brett Ponda (Sarah); 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.??A combined memorial service for William "Bill" and his wife, Buelah will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.  Memorial donations may be made to the Akron VFW or the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.
