Margaret (Beedy) Norris Obituary
Margaret Norris, 89, of Fort Morgan, CO died peacefully at home on May 13, 2013, surrounded by loving family. Margaret was born June 16, 1923 to Guy & Clara Beedy. Margaret had a twin sister, Martha, whom she loved very much, as well as brothers Wilbur, Willard and Charlie The family was raised in the Lindon, CO area. She graduated from the Lindon High School, and shortly after she rode the train to Long Beach, California to marry her sweetheart, Norman Norris. He was employed at the Douglas Aircraft Factory, and after the war they returned to Lindon and farmed for 45 years. Margaret cooked school lunches for Lindon and Woodlin schools for 33 years. She was known for being "The Best Cook in the State of Colorado"
She loved cooking (especially baking), gardening, working in her flower beds, oil paintings, calligraphy and various other arts and crafts. She made some beautiful quilts. She refused to create something she might consider substandard. Her motto was "If it's worth doing- it's worth doing right".
She loved being around family and loved ones. Her grandchildren were a great source of joy. Her granddaughter, Mary Price has been taking care of her Grandmother for the past 12 years, and Lorraine Wade joined to help during the past 3 years she became weaker.
Margaret and Norman raised three children, Roger, from Ft. Morgan, Barbara, from Quartzsite, AZ, and Nancy (deceased). She has 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons. She also has a host of friends and many who call her "Grandma" . She had a very special love for Tracy Robinson, who was a best friend and a great help to "Grandma". Everyone she ever met will love and miss her greatly.
A funeral service was held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Baptist Country Chapel in Lindon. Interment followed at the Glen Cemetery south of Lindon. Memorial donations may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society. Bowin Funeral Home of Akron was in charge of arrangements.
