Patricia "Pat" Benish Obituary
Patricia "Pat" Benish passed away on March 17, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. 
Patricia La Vaughn Wagner was born February 22, 1934 in Yuma, Colorado to Helen Mary Wilson Wagner and Courtland Ulmont Wagner. Patricia lived in the De Nova Community for two years with her father and mother and one brother Ernest. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Centralia, Washington where the family engaged in farming. After 5-1/2 years the family moved to California due to Ernest needing a dryer climate. After the attack on Pearl Harbor the family moved back to Colorado where they were blessed with a brother Delbert in 1943. Patricia graduated from the eighth grade at Otis grade school. During her school years Patricia participated in 4H activities raising ducks and chickens which she also enjoyed in her adult years. Patricia graduated high school from High Prairie schools in 1952 after marrying her high school sweet heart Delbert Eugene Benish in the Methodist Church Akron Colorado May 17, 1951. After marriage Delbert and Patricia moved to a farm south of Akron where they lived until 1968. During their time on the farm, three children were born; Randy, Ricky and Deaun.
They lived and farmed in the Elba community until moving to the Parrish farm two miles south of Akron in 1968. Pat with her husband Gene became mail carriers in 1968 and continued carrying mail until her death. In addition to being rural mail carriers they also purchased the McCall pool hall in 1969 which they renamed Ben's Place.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father and her husband.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children Randy and wife Stacy of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rick Benish and wife Cheryl of Akron, Deaun Carpenter and husband Larry of Imperial, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 
A funeral service was held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Akron.  Interment followed at the Otis Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Plains.  Bowin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
