Boyd Anderson, 91, of Big Spring, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Westbrook, Texas. He married Edna Cate March 21, 1942, in Stanton. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2012. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army
, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II
. He was in the 77th New York Infantry Division. Service included the Ryukyus Campaign, Guam, Ie Shemi and the invasion and securing of Okinawa.
He was awarded the Bronze Star
for Valor. He graduated from the West Texas College of Mines, now the University of Texas
at El Paso. He was a civil engineer for Morton Thikol, near Brigham City, Utah.
He was a Southern Baptist. He had been a resident of Big Spring for one year coming from Odessa. Prior to Odessa, he lived in High Rolls for 25 years.
He is survived by two daughters Wyleen Anderson, of Midland, and Renee` Siddal, of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons Boyd Rae Anderson, Jr., of East Berne, N.Y., and Bruce Anderson, of Wallis, Texas; one sister; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
