Glennon P. Cates, loving husband, father, teacher, coach and wonderful friend to many passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, in El Paso, Texas. He was born on July 24, 1959, in Hobbs to Doyle and Jacqueline Hudgens Cates.
Glennon has been married to Gerri Montoya for the past 28 years. He served four years in the United States Marines. He enjoyed his 14 years of teaching at Academy Del Sol. He enjoyed spending his time with family and his pets: Duke, Chili, and JoJo. He was an avid artist, loved cooking and watching sports.
Glennon is survived by his wife, Gerri, of the family home in Alamogordo; son, Brennon Cates and daughter-in-law Cashmere Moheit of Odessa, Texas; grandson Ari Jack Cates, who is expected to arrive on Oct. 1, 2014; mother, Jackie Koscak and her husband Mike of Cloudcroft; sister, Julia Curry and her husband Jason of Alamogordo; niece, Rachel Montoya and husband Andrez of Las Cruces; father-in-law, Phil Montoya; mother-in-law, Delores Sloan and brother-in-law, Paul Montoya, all from Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his father Doyle Cates.
Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 3 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mike Lindsay, celebrant.
Inurnment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
The Cates family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements Cremation will take place at PCS.
