Jerry Dean Berry, 73, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born March 3, 1939 in Talihena, Okla., to Thomas and Mary (Masters) Berry.
He was raised in Carlsbad until he joined the U.S. Navy
and served from 1955 to 1959. When he returned home, he spent most of his career as an electrician. He owned and operated Lightnin Lectric, wiring many homes and businesses in Alamogordo for over 30 years.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, camping and riding his motorcycle. Anyone who had ever met "Popo" knew immediately what a great man he was. He was always smiling and laughing. He never took life too seriously.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny, of 32 years; daughters Stacey and husband, John Hubbard, of Arkansas; and Debbie and husband, Joel Marcucci, of La Luz; sons Chris Berry, of Alamogordo; Rick and wife, Rhonda Cooper, of Alamogordo; and Robert Cooper of Alamogordo; two brothers Bob Berry of Oregon; and Joe Berry, of Oklahoma; grandchildren Brandon and wife, Michelle Hubbard, of Arkansas; Jesika Hubbard,of Arkansas; Matthew and wife, Erica Garcia, of Alamogordo; Mandi and husband, Sean Garcia, of Texas; Christopher and wife, Dannielle Cooper, of Alaska; RikkiDawn Cooper, of Florida; Kayleigh, Kelsie and Daniel Malone of Alamogordo; as well as nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Tommy and Lanier Berry and a sister Mary Freek.
Memorial services for Jerry will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 5 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will take place at PCS.
