Jerry Don Atwater (Rogers), 58, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday Sept. 17, 2013. Jerry was born July 7, 1955, to James and Wynonna Atwater (Skaggs).
He went under the name Jerry Rogers during his schools years and graduated from Clovis High School Class of 1973. He bravely served his country in the U.S. Navy
for a brief stint of his life.
He was a happy man with a heart of gold. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and all things outdoors. His pride and joy was his son and granddaughters.
He is survived by his son Jimmy Atwater and wife, Debbie, of Clovis; two sisters Cindy Westerman, of Hobbs, and Patty Rogers and husband, Steve, of Clovis; three brothers Billy Rogers and wife, Leigh Anne, of Hobbs; Terry Rogers and wife, Karen, of Alamogordo; and Chad Atwater, of Milton, Wash.; three granddaughters Hailey, Hailyn and Harper, of Clovis; uncle Wayland Price, of Clovis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father James and mother Wynonna, his grandparents Dwight and Ivy Atwater, of Anaheim Landing, Calif.; Hollis and Thelma Price, of Clovis; and aunt Doris Green.
He loved his family and his life more than anything. He will be dearly missed by many people.
A celebration of life and memorial service will be held for Jerry at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the VFW
in Clovis. A potluck with the family will be held there afterwards.
