Jerry Ed Mansur, of Cloudcroft, passed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at the age of 72. He was born on Nov. 4, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Milton Albert (Bus) and Vela Mansur.
His family moved to Tucumcari before settling in Hobbs. Jerry graduated from Hobbs High School and New Mexico Military Institute, and attended Baylor University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
There he met his wife and life-long companion, Marilyn Anne Daniel. They were married on Nov. 8, 1963, in Waco, Texas. The couple moved to Dallas, where Jerry worked as an accountant before returning to Baylor to continue his accounting and business studies, graduating a second time with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree.
The family moved to Denver City, Texas, in 1973, where Jerry established a CPA practice and became active in community and church activities. He retired in 2001 and moved to Cloudcroft. He was a member of the Cloudcroft United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer for 10 years, played in the handbell choir and was a member of the JOY Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Cloudcroft Golfers' Association and enjoyed playing bridge at the Senior Center. Jerry loved people and never met a stranger. The years in his beloved mountains were some of the happiest of his life.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Anne; a son Paul Edward Mansur and his wife, Johnette Prejean Mansur; a daughter Annemarie Alling and her husband, James Alling; granddaughters Alexandra, Rebecca, Claire Seymour and Ravyn Alling; and grandsons Brice and Collin Mansur.
Services will be held at the Cloudcroft United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
