Jesse Romeo Churchman III
Jesse Romeo Churchman III, 55, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, at his home in Alamogordo after a heroic two-year battle with cancer.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Jesse was born Nov. 9, 1957, in Mountain Home, Idaho, to Jesse R. Churchman Jr. and Leora Churchman.
Born into a military family, he moved around a lot and saw different places until his father's final assignment at Holloman Air For Base and made a permanent residence for his family in Alamogordo, where Jesse graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1975.
After graduation, he moved to Idaho and for a short period of time to Reno, Nev., when he realized that Alamogordo was calling him back. When people asked him why he came back, his answer was always that it was his time to take care of his parents. But, truth be known, he really missed his parents while he was gone.
On his return to Alamogordo, he discovered his passion for construction work. After working for a company as an installer and driver, he decided to open up his own company called, The Carpentry Doctor and later Built*2*Last.
Jesse never met a stranger and he was loved by everybody who entered his life. Friends and family could count on him whenever they needed help.
He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and everybody knew it. He also had a love for fishing and never missed an opportunity to return to Idaho to fish on the Snake River.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents David Adams Sr. and Mozelle Adams, of Caldwell, Idaho; as well as Jesse R. Churchman Sr. and Dorothy M. Churchman, of Charlottesville, Va.
He is survived by his parents Jesse R Churchman Jr. and Leora Churchman, of Alamogordo; the love of his life, Meike Schwarz-Churchman, of Alamogordo; and stepson Patrick Shide, of Perth, Australia; his brother Steve Churchman and his wife, Karen, of Meridian, Idaho; his sister Sheila Thein and her husband, Kim, of San Antonio, Texas; his brother Greg Churchman and his wife, Beth, of Fort Collins, Colo.; his sister Tamara Churchman-Vliek and her husband, Erik, of Grand Junction, Colo.; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces located throughout the country.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who assisted Jesse during his illness, including friends, doctors, nurses and the hospice services.
The Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
