Lee Karl Sitts, beloved husband and loving father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, after a long-term illness.
Karl is survived by his wife, Melissa Kay Sitts; his daughter Bronwynn Meist; his sister Nancy Lynn Pontious and husband Daniel; nephew Ryan and niece Daneé; and aunt Margaret Stewart.
Karl was preceded in death by his father Jay Stewart, mother Alene Sitts and daughter Domini Sitts.
He was born in Dallas and raised in Tucson, Ariz. Karl served in the U.S. Army in South Korea and Germany in the early 1960s. Returning to Arizona, he received his master's degree in education at the University of Arizona.
He taught school in various Arizona and New Mexico communities, including Alamogordo High School in the 1970s and '90s.
His interests included hunting for native artifacts in the Southwest deserts, range shooting and RC modeling . He was an avid reader and played the bagpipes and Irish whistle. Above all, he was happiest riding his motorcycle with the sun in his face and the wind in his hair.
Services will be held at the Tularosa Community Church on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 4 p.m.
