Lawrence Johnson, 65, passed away May 14, 2013, in Las Cruces. He was born Feb. 17, 1948, in Jersey City, N.J., to Gordon and Elva (Menzer) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was an Army
veteran of the Vietnam War
having served two tours of duty. After Vietnam, he attended the LaGuardia School of Aeronautics. He met the love of his life, Gail Fick, and they were married June 1, 1969. He had his own service station for 10 years and then worked for an auto-insurance company where they developed 'Spot Insurance.' He then worked for Home Depot in New Jersey before transferring to Alamogordo. He purchased the "The Tool Store" in Alamogordo.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Johnson, of Alamogordo; son Christopher Johnson and wife, Shannon, of West Keansburg, N.J.; grandson Logan Johnson, of West Keansburg; granddaughters Dana and Brooke Bartulovich, of North Bergen, N.J.; and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Shari Bartulovich; a brother Raymond Johnson and his parents.
The memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.

The Johnson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
