Leo Edward Rogers, Jr., 66, passed away on Wednesday, No. 28, 2012 in Alamogordo. He was born on Tuesday, Mar. 12, 1946 in Denver, Colo. to Leo and Sandy Rogers.
Butch was raised in Derby, Kan. and graduated from Derby Senior High in 1964. He attended Wichita State University before enlisting in the U.S Army
where he served in Vietnam in a Special Forces unit as a mule skinner. When he returned from Vietnam he spent most of his career as a master auto mechanic, then a custom cabinet and furniture maker and most recently as a department manager at Lowes Home Improvement.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and model train enthusiast. He also loved NASCAR racing and riding horses.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah, of the family home; sons Rodney and wife, Jennifer, of Las Cruces; Patrick and wife, Jennifer, of El Paso, Texas and Richard Bartholomew, of Augusta, Kan.; grandchildren Paxton, Mason, Sean, Cade and Caitlin Rogers and Jessica Stewart; sisters Carol Leonard, Gail Duke and husband, Carter, Donna Ashby and husband, Don, and Theresa Keelin and husband,Tim, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Butch will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 4 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with longtime family friend, Tom McMurry, officiating.
