Lewis W. Clegg, son of the late Lewis and Irene Clegg, of Verona, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Westwood Nursing Home in Evans, Ga., after being hospitalized with pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Delores J. Clegg, of Fairbury, Neb.; his sister Shirley Hornyak, of Oceanview, Del.; his brother Bruce Clegg, of Verona; and a grandchild, Patrick Clegg, of Waynesville, Miss. He is survived by his sons Richard and wife, Laura Clegg, of Evans; Michael and wife, Mary, Clegg, of Waynesville; and Russell and wife, Kristen, Clegg, of Pasadena, Md.; his sister Irene Schrader, of Estero, Fla.; his brother Robert Clegg, of La Canada, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Clegg graduated from Verona High School, was a veteran of the Air Force and an Electronics Engineering graduate of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He spent his career as a project engineer in the space and aeronautical industry traveling extensively with extended residences in St. Charles and Hazelwood, Mo.; Smyrna, Ga.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Alamogordo and Kernville, Calif. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars
and Moose International. He retired from the Boeing Company in 2000 and resided in Missouri, Florida and Georgia since that time.
Mr. Clegg and his late wife's cremation urns will be placed in the Columbarium Wall at Fort Leonard Wood Veteran's Cemetery, 25350 Highway H (I-44 Exit #156), Waynesville, MO 65583, after a brief memorial service at the committal shelter at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013.
