Loyola Herrera, 86, passed away on Jan. 25, 2013, in Albuquerque. She was born July 23, 1926, in Tularosa to Jose Padilla and Ysidra Chavez Padilla .
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband owned Loyola's Dry Goods and Western Auto in Tularosa. They owned the Big Chief Store in Mescalero. She was a member of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church and was active at St. Joseph's Mission in Mescalero.
Survivors include her son, Louis "Mike" Herrera and wife Kathy; daughters, Kathryn Lynn Herrera and Francisco Rayos, Ernestina "Tina" Herrera, Denise M. Esquibel and husband Robert, Patricia A. Blazer and Greg Mars and; grandchildren Clifford, Duane, Jonathan, Wyndham, Elizabeth, Jennifer, David, Amanda, Stacy and Sammual, great-grandchildren Ryan, Dustin, Valen, Jade, Caeleigh, Anthony, Lilly, Mathias, Gavin, Sophia, Joseph, Colby, Timothy, Zayden and Kameron and a sister Teresita Padilla Baca and husband Mike Baca.
She was preceded in death by husband, Pete Herrera Jr., her father Jose Padilla, Ysidra Chavez Martinez, brothers Emilio Padilla and Benny Padilla The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers will be her grandsons, Clifford Herrera, Duane Herrera, Jonathan Herrera, Wyndham Runningwater, David Esquibel and Sammual Blazer.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until the Rosary on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church.
