Magdalena "Leni" Kuon, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Dec. 20, 2013. She was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Bavaria, Germany.
She is survived by husband, Kurt Kuon; children Roy (Linde) Van Cleave, Bob (Debbie) Van Cleave and Kay (Lance) Mamiya; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother Lorenz; and sister Bettie.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Van Cleave, two sons Roy Peter Van Cleave (infant) and Ray Van Cleave, one brother and five sisters.
Leni grew up with a large, close family on a farm in Germany. She married Roy Van Cleave, who was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force.
In 1954, she moved to the United States with him. She has been married for 46 years to Kurt Kuon, and Alamogordo has been their home for 45 years. She and Kurt worked together in their business, Continental Meat and Sausage, until retirement.
She loved spending time with family and stayed active buying and selling antiques, and doing crossword puzzles.
Feisty and good-hearted, she will be missed by all that knew her.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Monte Vista Cemetery.
