Raymond Artiaga, born to Lucy A. Trujillo on April 15, 1947, went to be with the Lord June 28, 2013. Raymond was born in Artesia and moved to Alamogordo at 12 years of age.
He graduated from Alamogordo High School in May of 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Marines and served his country proudly until an injury in Vietnam in 1968. He received the Purple Heart
and returned to San Diego where he resided for many years working in the banquet/hospitality business.
Raymond was a true family man who enjoyed being a "tata" and father. His hobbies included visiting casinos and anything having to do with the San Diego Chargers! He was a giving man who was always helping those in need. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Lucy and Sam Trujillo, of Alamogordo; his children Ramon Artiaga (Albuquerque), Reynaldo Artiaga (Texas), Alejandra Terrazas (Oklahoma), Reynette Artiaga (San Diego), Reyna Artiaga (San Diego) and Reymina Artiaga (Albuquerque) as well as 23 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Henry Artiaga, Billy Artiaga, Sam Trujillo, Alice Anderson, Lilly Johnson, Arturo Lopez, Alonzo Lopez, Armando Lopez, Evangelina Lopez, Johnny Lopez, Pedro Lopez and Mario Lopez.
Raymond's rosary is scheduled at 8 a.m. Monday, July 8, at Riverside Funeral Home, in Albuquerque with burial to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
