On June 17, 2014, Ron Klingenberg, 78, met his wife at the tree. He passed away at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 14, 1936, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Carroll and Gladys (West) Klingenberg. He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force
. He was a loving husband, loving father, loving Papa and friend to all. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 7686 and the Evening Lions Club.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ronda (Rich) Merrick and Linda (Allen) Burghardt all of Alamogordo; four grandchildren, Lisa (Eric) O'Connell, Ronnie (Heidi) Decker, Amber (Luis) Chavez of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wesley Burghardt of Albuquerque; and four great-grandchildren, Aaron Decker, Cameron Decker, Blair Decker and Kayelyn O'Connell all of Phoenix and sister-in-law, Linda (Fred) Wood of Tularosa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lanita (Varner) Klingenberg; father, Carroll Lee Klingenberg; mother, Gladys Mae (West) Klingenberg; a sister, Carol Klingenberg; and three brothers, Carl Klingenberg, Stanley Klingenberg and Billy Klingenberg.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery, with a reception to follow.
Military Honors will be provided by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard, with the Flag Cordon provided by the Patriot Guard Riders.
Pallbearers include Dale McMasters, Ronnie Decker, Luis Chavez, Wesley Burghardt, Aaron Decker and Cory Vasquez.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, June 19, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
