Sara "Sally" Molander, of Kekaha, Hawaii, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013,
at the age of 67. She was born Aug. 7, 1945, in Drexel Hill, Pa. Sally and
her family lived in Alamogordo from 1987 until 2005. She was a teacher in
the Alamogordo school district for 18 years at both Sacramento Elementary
and La Luz Elementary.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Molander, of Hawaii; daughter Janet
Noe, of California; son Lief Molander, of Alamogordo; and stepson Lloyd
Molander-Adams, of California; three grandchildren; and sister Miriam
Taylor, of Pennsylvania.
A memorial service to remember Sally will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17,
2013, at Grace United Methodist Church, followed by a gathering of friends
and relatives at the family's cabin near Cloudcroft.
Sally's favorite subject to teach was science, and she always had live
plants and animals in her classroom to help inspire her students to learn.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations be made to UC-Berkeley's Lawrence
Hall of Science, a nonprofit organization that supports K-12 science
education, in memory of Sally Molander.
