Gorgonio Padilla Torres, 91, passed away on Feb. 24, 2014 in Alamogordo. He was born on June 10, 1922 in La Luz, New Mexico to Gregorio and Emilia (Padilla) Torres.

He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the New Guinea Campaign in the Pacific Theater. He retired as a carpenter with the Civil Service in 1972. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was an active member of the community and was always helping people in need.
Survivors include his children Priscilla Provencio, Viola Sedillo and husband Fernando, Kathryn Chavira, Johnny Torres and wife Peggy, Tony Torres and wife Jenny and Danny "Mouse" Torres; twenty-five grandchildren; eighty-four great grandchildren and twenty-five great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosalia Guilez Torres; three sons, Carlos Guilez, Alcario Torres and Emilio Torres, Sr. and two grandchildren.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will greet friends from 5 - 7 p.m. before the Rosary.
The Torres family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. Cremation will take place at PCS.
