Jack Frederick Chapman, 88, passed away on Feb. 7, 2014, in Alamogordo, NM. Jack was born in Porterdale, Ga., to Charlie and Pearlie Rook Chapman. Jack was married to Marjorie Mozelle from 1950 to 1970 and had children Margena Sue Hubbard of New Hope, Vt., Janice Faye Carmienke (deceased) and Jack Frederick Chapman II (wife Kathleen) of Hewitt, TX.
Jack was married to Mary Jo Hayes of Alamogordo from 1973 until her death in 2007 and raised son Donald Aidan Hayes of Alpharetta, Ga., and Mary Linda Hayes (deceased) of Alamogordo.
Jack is also survived by three grandchildren Larry Chapman and Jessica Jones both of Odessa, TX and Amanda Dick-Peddie of Las Cruces, N.M.
Jack's distinguished military career spanned 30 years with five years in the Navy followed by 25 in the Air Force. Jack worked about an additional 10 years in Aircraft Maintenance as a civilian with DynCorp.
Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. Jack actively participated in the VFW (Commander 1986-87), Elks, Moose, Fraternal Brotherhood of the Eagles, and American Legion.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at Cottonwood Christian Fellowship Church. Reception will follow the service at the Elks Lodge.
The Chapman family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
