Jane Quigley, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 4, 2013. She was born Dec. 4, 1930, to Andrew Jackson Asher Jr. and Freida Anita (Starr) Asher.
She graduated from Planeview High School in Wichita, Kan., in 1949, and later from Business College in Wichita. She later married Jack Quigley May 19, 1956. They moved to Alamogordo in 1963, where she joined the Alamogordo Garden Club. Jane worked at LOCO Credit Union and later at Zia Therapy Center, where she was active with Special Olympics. She then became a realtor where she was designated Graduate of the Realtors Institute and co-owner of Casa Realty, a National Honor Award "Million Dollar Club" while at Monte Vallejo Realty and the Gallery of Homes National Honor Award. She was the director of the Alamogordo Board of Realtors and president of the local chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors. She also was the president of the Otero County Junior Women's Club in 1984 and received the Certificate of Merit Award and was inducted into the Otero County Women's Hall of Fame in 1984. Jane was involved in Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
In 1988, Charles Reidlinger sponsored her to become the first Woman Member of the Rotary Club of Alamogordo where she is still an active member. She embodied the spirit of Rotary and was the first woman Rotarian to travel to Mexico on the Mexico Medical Project with the Rotary Club of Alamogordo and was a Paul Harris Fellow recipient. Jane was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, having served as chapter president, treasurer and was Queen of the Sweetheart Dance. She was a founding member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She loved needlework and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Quigley, of the family home; her sister Patricia Osborne, of Wichita; three sons Scott Quigley, of Denver; Kevin Quigley, of Alamogordo; and Darren Quigley and wife, Tera, of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren Ashley, Katrina, Leeah, Kenny and Brandy; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also her longtime friend Bettie Jo Soehlig, of Fountain Hills, Ariz..
She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Asher and Larry Asher, her sister Mary Lea Laflin and her son Sean Quigley
Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Scott officiating
The Quigley family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
