He is survived by son Steve Churchman and his wife, Karen, of Meridian, Idaho; son Greg Churchman and his wife Beth, of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter Sheila Churchman-Thein and her husband, Kim, of San Antonio, Texas; and daughter Tamara Churchman-Vliek and her husband, Erik of Grand Junction, Colo. Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly. He was so very proud of his family and cherished them immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Dorothy Churchman, of Charlottesville, Va., and son Jesse R. Churchman III, of Alamogordo.
Jesse joined the United States Air Force in 1954. He and his family moved to Holloman Air Force Base in in 1972, where he retired after 20 years of service in 1974. But retirement wasn't in Jesse vocabulary, as he then joined the Civil Service in 1975 and served for 38 years. He proudly worked as a supervisor for the 39th Logistical Readiness Squadron at Holloman Air Force Base up until his passing. He was proud of his work and enjoyed his colleagues and friends very much.
Those who knew him loved his infectious smile, warmth, love and respect he had for his friends, family and even strangers. He would also love to tell a good joke and especially hear a good one that would put a big smile and soft chuckle in his voice. He would even laugh at the one's that weren't so funny.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at The Worship Church located at 10th Street and Florida Avenue. Friends and family are invited to join us for this celebration of his life.
