Kenneth L. Major, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his home in La Luz.
He was born on July 27, 1927, in Jacksonville, Ill. to Archie and Alice Gandoit Major.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in 1962 as a gunnery sergeant. After his military career, the family moved to Denver, Colo. He moved to Alamogordo in 1967 and worked for Sears Roebuck, Co., for over 20 years as a technician, until he fully retired to enjoy life. Ken and Darlene enjoyed many years as camp host, during the summers, and traveling around the world.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Darlene J. Major; daughters, Diana Landers (Steve), Denise Jennings (James) and Donna Major (John Harris); son, Kenneth Major (Kathy Hart); stepchildren, Dan Fritz (Mary), Duwayne Fritz (Donna), Audrey Ferguson, Lori Mitchell (Ross) and Dianne Fritz; brother, Archie (Nancy); sister, Loretta (Allan) and and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul; sister, Betty; wife, Rhodabell, and daughter, Dana Major.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 17, at Monte Vista Cemetery, with Chuck Moon officiating.

The Major family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
