Richard L. Yetter Sr., 65, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Alamogordo. He was born on Aug. 29, 1947, in Liverpool, Pa., to Arley and Sara (Hile) Yetter.

He was a distinguished Vietnam Veteran, decorated with the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and a Purple Heart. He served with honor in the United States Army for 21 years and worked for Army Military Family Housing for over 20 years. His 40-plus years of service to our country was an honor for him. He was a man who everyone who knew him, loved.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sylvia I. Yetter, of Alamogordo; son Christopher L. Yetter and wife, Brenda, of Liverpool; daughter Sara K. Wilson and husband, Kevin, of Alamogordo; son Richard L. Yetter Jr. and wife, Pamela, of Alamogordo; daughter Debbie I. Phinney and husband, Nathan, of Clayton, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and seven brothers and sisters of Liverpool.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers George Yetter and Earl Yetter.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at First Assembly Worship Center, 801 10th Street, Alamogordo, with Pastor David Crispin officiating.
The family will greet friends at 12:30 p.m. at First Assembly Worship Center prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Richard's wife, Sylvia Yetter, at 2200 N. Florida Ave, Lot 37, Alamogordo, NM, to help offset the cost of final expenses.
The Yetter family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
