Ava June Brown, 79, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Alamogordo after a long illness. She was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Haskell, Texas, to Clarence Myron and Mattie Lee (Dollar) Parsons.

She married Arval Ray Brown in Clarendon, Texas, on June 4, 1954. They lived in Amarillo, Texas, until Ray was transferred to Holloman Air Force Base in 1967. June and Ray raised their children in Cloudcroft and lived there for 25 years as June kept the mountain women supplied with Avon products. After brief stays in Amarillo, they settled in the Alamogordo area in 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Arval Ray Brown; daughter Nancy Lawrence, of Alamogordo; sons William, of Fremont, Calif., and David, of Albuquerque; grandchildren Carie Lawrence Hayhurst and husband, Alva, Sandi Lawrence and Stevie Lawrence; great-grandchildren Jacob Inge and Minnie Hayhurst, all of Alamogordo; brothers Bobby McCrary and wife, Kathy, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Donnie McCrary and wife, Kay, of Amarillo; and sister Wynelle McCrary Fleming, of Navarre, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Clebert McCrary; two brothers, William McCrary and Wayne Parsons; sister Betty McCrary Barton; and son-in-law Shelley Lawrence.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, 1334 N. Scenic Drive, Alamogordo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alamogordo Home Health and Hospice, 1859 Indian Wells Road, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
